"the BOO heard 'round the world" and other news.

Well, as I mentioned in the last email, those classless pony's up in Indy booed a 14 yr old girl from NH when it was announced she was the winner of her age group for the Punt/Pass/Kick competition. I'm happy to say that EVERYONE took notice of this. Keep in mind, many of the colts fans on the indystar blog site are trying to say that it was just bad timing, and that Phillip Rivers was jawing to the crowd and that's what prompted the booing, however we of fair to middling intelligence know otherwise. Among those in the collective afore mentioned "we," would be none other than Robert Kraft. This girl, Anna Grant from NH, received a call from ANDRE TIPPITT himself, informing her that she would be properly congratulated at home in Foxborough at the beginning of the AFC Championship game against the Chargers... LOL I love it! So not only did the Colts boo her the first time, they will get to see her in HD while sitting on their couches at home NOT playing in the AFCCG! Like I said, Karma is a mutha! You can see the video of said booage, as well as the news spot around it up in NH. This little girl is pretty cool, in the article, found here, she said that her friends all told her to expect something like that. This article is awesome, and when Kraft talks about what it was like to win the first SB so shortly after 9-11, well, all I can say is that if I were a girl with a heart or feelings, I may well have cried. (luckily, I have none of the above!) Ok, enough of all that... I'm getting sappy!

Onward and upward... So do you remember the time that Anthony Smith, ("uh who? Ya, I've never heard of him. ~R. Harrison") of the Steelers "GUARANTEED" a win against New England? Do you remember what the outcome was? Two TD's LEGIT right over the top of his head and a resounding win of 34-14. How about the time that Paul Spicer (ridiculous name) of the Jags said he thought we should have been fined $2million, banned from the Playoffs, and stripped of the 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd round picks. Well, those things didn't happen, and we knocked the Jags out of the running. Well, here we go, you would think these idiots would learn that we'd win anyway, but it will be so much more brutal and heartfelt if you give us some kind of fodder... Why not paint a target on your helmet? Some defensive end for the Chargers ran his mouth saying "the way we're playing right now, nothing can stop us." Need I go on? That was enough right there! He went on to say that we, specifically BB, are scratching our heads trying to figure out the best way to handle them, and that, "they [the patriots] are more worried than we [chargers] are right now." LOL... you can read the entire article here, and laugh about how stupid these people are!

Now, for those of you who are starting to feel a little nervous, here are some things that should make you feel better. FIRST: I am not nervous ::pfftt:: Second: Read this article, and it should calm any nerves left over. Keep in mind that our record in the playoffs at home is AMAZING so we have that in our favor, as well as the fact that the Chargers had to play the Titans, who NEVER should have made it into the playoffs in the first place... then they played Seyton "the choke artist" Manning at home, and Manning lost the game, vs the Chargers actually winning it. And finally... we just THOUGHT the Steelers were a broken team! These raggedy assed Chargers are coming in with third stringers, starters playing in wheelchairs, a couple of the coaches illegitimate, paraplegic, retarded step children have been spotted suiting up for practice, etc. It's going to be like playing a special Olympics team. Not to worry my friends...

On a more serious, and irritating note, read this "breaking news" article about Randy Moss. It just goes to show you, when you're the best, someones always going to try and bring you don't. I choose not to believe this, because I honestly (and call me naive, but keep in mind the TERRIBLE things I initially had to say about Moss when he was drafted.) believe that he has now truely become a part of the team, and I also believe that he's happy where he is and would do some stupid shit to jeopardize it. I won't say anything else right now, but when you read the article, I'm ready and willing to discuss it.

Ok folks, that's all for now. Enjoy the next four days... I'm looking forward to it! A sunday afternoon game, a federal holiday on Monday... you know what THAT means... It means that I'm STILL never drinking again, but I'm looking forward to a night of gingerale and Pats fans! ;) There are SEVERAL new names added to the list, so welcome, and come introduce yourself on Sunday... I'm 6' tall, loud and obnoxious, and I'll be wearing my throwback Bledsoe jersey. See ya there!

Talk to you guys soon,

Time For Patriot Games

I must first say: Stop me if you've heard this one. I'm having the most insane case of Deja Vu... as I'm thinking about what to write, I keep saying in my head, I SWEAR I've already written this, right down to the title of my email. I've looked at my dcpatfan blog site, my sports illustrated blog site, my personal myspace, the dcpatfan myspace and all of my emails, and I don't see anything like this... Maybe it's the stress of being a Patriots fan!

That said, let me tell you that my computer just crashed, and after doing about 40 minutes of writing, cutting and pasting, hyperlink making, etc, all that was left was this first stupid paragraph. Forgive me, but this is not going to be ANYwhere near as funny and deep as the first one!

Here's a NY written article about the alligations of Mangini cheating... Of course, it's written in such a way that we could NEVER POSSIBLY assume Eric dear would ever do something so foul as BB would. Pfttt! The NFL has decided not to look into it any further, and it's no longer even a headline on NFL.com... so sad. A little case of the pot calling the kettle cheater... regardless of what everyone is saying, there is going to be a very strong motivation for Sunday's game. All season, all we have heard is: "we are a one game team," we don't look back and we don't look ahead, we focus on the next game coming down the pike, it's just one more in a line of 16 games we have to play.... What that is all code for is: "Screw Mangini, screw the Jets, and screw NY... oh, and New Jersey too of course. We's rather shoot McDaniels in the head than see Mangini pimp him out, we blame him for Branch, oh, and the league hasn't even SEEN what running up the score really looks like! You just thought that deadskins/pats game was ugly, you haven't seen anything yet!"

this is the "rematch" that most Pats fans have been waiting for. Poor Maura is having nightmares about it... this game is effecting the lives of pats fans everywhere! As with the Dolphins at the begining of the year, I'm not going to pull a Steelers Safey and say we've got this game in the bag... But i WILL tell you, I can promise that the line will be protecting Brady like never before, because these bastards are nasty, and they have nothing else to live for... it's not like this game will get them anywhere near even a wild card slot... but a cheap shot would be right up their alley... And I can also tell you that, unlike the Eagles and Ravens, both of whom I think the team slept on and came out a little under prepared, this week the Pats are going to play like they are playing the superbowl... they aren't going to come in cockey, they are going to come in baited for bear.

Some History: This will be the 97th time we play the Jets since we became the Boston Patriots back in 1960. Should we win this game, we will be at a 50% win rate, as right now we are at 47-48-1. Over the last 10 games, we've won 9, prior to that one loss, we swept them from 2003-2005, and since the begining of the Kraft era, we are 18 and 10 against them.

As you know, it's snowing in Boston, and since 1993, we are 22-3 in all games with a temp of 33 or lower. There was some stat about playing at home in the snow, and I know we are undefeated, however I can't remember if that was an all time thing, or just since "Gillette" stadium... you can thank my computer for that blown stat!

PS, I just stumbled upon this website, don't know how I missed it, but it's called Patsfan.com and on it they have the Grogan Grade! This is the fifth season that Grogan sits down with a columnist and they go back and forth about each game... love it!

Other news, I'm sure you already know, but Brady got the Offensive player of the week, and Roger Clemens got outted as a steroid user. (see, I told you there would be no flow to the new email.)

Ok, now, a little head-2-head... Kellen Clemens will be starting, so lets take a look at him compared to Brady shall we? It's sad, there's really no contest. Brady's started all the games, Clemens has only started 8, Brady has as 70% completion rate, Clemens has 50%, Brady's been sacked 16 times in 13 games, Clemens has been sacked 24 times in 8 games, Brady's thrown 45 passing TDs, Clemens has thrown FOUR... Brady's fairly good looking Clemens looks like Tony Siragusa stomped on his face... ok, I've grown weary of this!

Records: Ok, there are many records we stand to beat this week if all goes as planned... Brady needs to throw 5 more TD passes to beat Manning.... I dont' see why he can't do that on Sunday. NO QB has ever thrown more than 7 TD passes in one game... lets shoot for 8!  Also, 72 is the highest number of points scored in one game... we might be able to do something about that also! Moss needs just 4 TD's to break or 3 to match the all time record for most in a game. Even if we don't pull them off in one game, we still have Miami next. Speaking of which, lets start crossing fingers about thier next three games also...

One last word on our new friend Anthony Smith, getting spanked didn't shut his mouth... rather, he said that they didn't play thier best, but will see us again in January... Now, having looked at the top seeded teams, I don't see any way that the steelers will be anything other than a 3 seed... because of the way things look, the only way we would see them again is in the AFC Championship game... and to do that they will have to get through the wild card, then divisionals, then beat the Colts! LOL doubt it!

Ok, game time 1pm (I think I lied somewhere, in this fake email I think i've written somewhere, that it was a 4:15 game time...). You know where I'll be... I'll be getting there a little early (IE, 10 am or something stupid) like last week. You knew last week was a big deal when Pats fans started coming in BEFORE kickoff!! LOL.

See you guys on Sunday!

GO PATS, 13-0

Whew! what a squeekah!

The next is a youtube clip...Well folks, I think we all need to take a minute to thank that, until last week, unHEARD of safety Anthony Smith... Any doubt of a win was then removed, once dear Smith (Who? Never heard of that guy... ~R Harrison) GUARANTEED a win against the Patriots... well, here we are, 13 and 0nly... and trust me Smith, we have enough Humble Pie to save a slice for you!

I actually have very little to say today (shocking).  There are however, a couple videos and articles to check out. The first is on the main page of nfl.com... it's called the new 'America's Team.' Adam Schefter says that while the Cowboys may be America's Team, the Patriots have the title on loan! LOL... The next is a youtube clip... if this doesn't make you smile every bit as hard as seeing a montage of Papelbon's jig set to Shipping Up to Boston, I don' know what's wrong with you! While watching this, pay attention around 1:05... you'll see Big Ben doing the famous "Manning Face..." lol  For those of you who didn't get enough of the "Slap you in the face Smith" flea-flicker, here's a clip of that one too... SO good!! I've watched this video about 6 times just this morning... I love it. As if every game we win, every time we go for it on fourth down, every time we run the score up over 50 points, as if THAT wasn't enough of an Eff You, this was the mother off all middle fingers to the Steelers, Smith specifically, and all of the idiots on ESPN that said the Steelers were the one's going to bring us down. Here is NFL Network Total Access saying that NOW they think the pats will go all the way undefeated... during the clip, you can see a replay of Smith running his mouth at Brady and then James Harrison (#92) coming from behind to Hem Brady up between himself and Smith... and you can ALSO see NO flag being thrown... but that's fine... I guess we aren't tipping the Ref's enough...

Many of you know that I was getting hostile texts from random Pgh numbers all night, well it turns out the were ALL from Sterling, he was too lazy to type scaithing comments on a regular cell phone so he would grab whatever PDA was closest and type on a QWERTY keyboard...LAME... in any case, at 6:56pm, he sent me another text saying: "I accept... just give me some time." So even the meanest, nastiest Steelers fan had to hang his head and conceed... a victory all around for the Pats fans...

Ok folks, more later as we prep for the Pats/Jets.... while as of monday the spread was already 24.5, and even if we hand them their nuts on a plate, this is still the game I"VE been waiting for since we played them at the begining of the year. Everything the pats and Belichick have done to thumb their noses at the League, it's ALL been for Mangina... now, we will have the chance to tell him (Between the line's ofc) how we feel about him, and the rest of his team... I honestly can't wait!

More later, GO PATS!

Pats V. Steelers... Tailgate and Game day news

First things first... how about that Ravens game!!!? I think we nearly froze our backends off!! It was the coldest, and windiest day of my life! But despite the cold, the wind, the near heartattack caused by the game, the guy that called Maura and myself "Cunts" when we sat down in our seats, etc, it was still an awesome experience! For those of whom I didn't connect with, I'm sorry and hope you all had as much fun as I did!

Now, down to business: Don't forget, this coming Saturday we are having a pre-game "tailgate party" at McFaddens, between the Pats fan club and the Steelers fan club. This even is the day before the two teams go head to head at 4:15. When you get to the bar, tell them you're with the Pats/Steelers party, and you will pay $10 for a wrist band that will get you free draught beer from 3-7, as well as $2 rail drinks. Treat the bartenders well, and they will return the favor... they are a lot of fun! let me know who is going, and if you're bringing people... I just want a basic idea of how many people to expect, and I don't want the steelers fans to outnumber the pats fans!!! Feel free to bring friends, even if they have no football affiliation, but make sure they PRETEND to be pats fans! lol

Ok, on to the game: Ugh, I'm not going to lie, after all the shit I've been talking up until this point, I'm now starting to get a little nervous... We've had pretty poor showings the last two games in a row, and the Steelers are some big and nasty dudes. Here's the break down of the QB's...

Ok, both teams have now played 12 games. Brady has attempted 430 passes, and has a completion rate of 70% and some change. Big Ben has attempted almost 100 fewer passes, 320, and of those 320 has completed just under 67%.  Ben has been intercepted 11 times, and Brady only 5 all season... and lets talk about Sacks! Ben=35, Brady=16.  However, as we have seen over the last two games, the QB doesn't MAKE the game... we really need to be concerned about stopping the Steeler's from putting too much pressure on Brady. The steeler's defense has guys like Polamalu, who has 42 combined tackles for the year and 2 forced fumbles. And then there is Ike Taylor, who has 53 combined tackles, 1 sack, and 2 interceptions. And Aaron Smith, who only has 27 combined tackles, but also has another 2.5 sacks. We are looking at some big guys, who hit hard, and are RUTHLESS. The team combined has 33 sacks, 8 INTs and a total of 34 TD's while only allowing 17 TDs all year.  While we have had 61 total TD's, we've allowed 26!

I'd be a liar if I said I felt confident about this game. There are just so many things that could go badly! Here is an article explaining what the patriots need to do, specifically, 5 things we need to do to get our act together. We will need to work on all five, and a few more by Sunday if we plan to get the job done.

Here's a little history... The past two Pats/Steelers match ups have both resulted in ending long winning streaks. On Halloween back in 2004, the Steelers beat the Patriots 34-20, breaking our Record winning streak of 18 consecutive regular season games (but we STILL won the friggin superbowl, thank you very much!) Then, a little less than a year later, we beat the Steelers in september of '05, 23-20, breaking their 16 game streak... ironically, that was they year THEY went to the superbowl...

We haven't played the Steelers since that 2005 regular season game, and ofc, this will be Tomlin's first time playing the Patriots as the head coach of the Steelers. We are 10-1 against teams with first time head coaches over this season and last season. (8 first time coaches last year, and four, counting the steelers, this year). The last time the Steelers traveled to Boston, was the 2002 season opener(and Gillette grand opening)... and we beat them, badly, 30-14. However, since first meeting the steelers in 1970, they own the overall series win, at 13-9.... lets make this 13-10 shall we?!!

Ok, I'm gonna go puke, I'm nervous! Let me know who's coming to the "Tailgate" on Saturday... i mean come on, who can turn down an excuse to get drunk for $10??  I leave  you with this article Mike sent me... it was in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette... the biggest steelers fan rag there is. Read it, and cross your fingers we get to feed Smith a little bit of our humble pie, I'm sure we have some left!

GO PATRIOTS!!!

Pats vs. Ravens

Ok guys, here's my latest email!  First of all, I will be sending out an email shortly regarding an AWESOME free tailgate event in baltimore!! I don't have the Evite yet, but I will get it this afternoon and will forward it to you all, including parking/metro info. It's going to be at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore... it is a bipartisan even, ie: both Pats AND Ravens fans will be there... cash bar, and it should be awesome! Like I said, as soon as i get it, I will forward the Evite to you guys... for those of who really wanted something to do but didnt' have tickets, I highly reccomend this... and also, PLEASE promote our fan club when you meet other Pats fans there!! There will be a silent auction for a chance to win a $400 snowboard. This event is sponsored by the dad foundation... check them out at dadfoundation.org. More on that when I get the info.

As you all know, we meet the Ravens in Baltimore this coming Monday night, 12/3.  Since the beginning of the bmore raven's franchise in 1996, we have played them just three times, Monday being the fourth. I can't seem to figure out how many times we have played Baltimore total... I'll keep digging around.

My favorite tidbit: As you all know, we have activated T. Brown for this weeks game... this will be our fourth time against the bmore ravens, and the fourth game that both Teddie and Troy have played in! This will be a little nostalgia for them. I'm very excited to have Brown back, and I have also activated him on my fantasy team as well! Had to pull Clinton Portis to do it, but it looks like they may not play on Sunday, so it wouldn't matter anyway.

The ravens are one of two teams (the other being the Giants) that Tom Brady hasn't ever thrown a TD pass against. God knows, as many records as we are breaking these days, that's just one more to add to the list! This will also be our first time in the M&T stadium, leaving just Arizona and Seattle's stadiums left that we have never played in.

This week, with a win, we will join the Canton Bulldogs (1922 and 1923... entire season), and the Chicago Bears in 1985 as having won the first 12 Games consecutively. The 1922 and 1923 seasons were 12 game seasons, so they technically should be in the same league as the '72 Dolphins I think... but they did have a couple ties each year, and back then those counted as wins, so TECHNICALLY they didn't really sweep the season!

The highest amount of TD's in a single seaons happened in 1984, by Miami, and the record stands to date at 70. HOWEVER, we the mighty record breaking Patriots, are now at 58! We are averaging 5.3 TD's per game, and we have five games left = 26.5 TDs... add that to the 58 TD's we already have and we stand to break the record by 14+ TDs!!

The NFL record for most completed passes in a season is held by Gannon, from Oakland, in 2002...As it stands, Brady has completed 284 passes, for an average of 25.8/game. If he maintains that average, he will hit 413, just missing the record by 5 completions... IF he can step up his average just one completion a game, we can tie it... With 413 completions, he will however, Break my dear Bledsoe's third place NFL record in 1994, with 400 completions.

As we are ALL well aware... Manning currently holds the record for most TD passes for a single season...Brady currently has 39, over the past 11 games, that's an average of 3.5/game... multiply that by the 5 games we have left, and that's the potential of 17 and some change more TD passes... if he keeps traveling on the path he's on, that could bring us to a record breaking 56+ TDs... Considering we have the Jets and 'Phins left, I don't see ANY of these goals posing a problem!!

Ok, I hate math, so I'm exausted now! As I said, as soon as I get the Evite from the dad foundation, I will send that along. I think it's a great idea for anyone wanting to go up to Bmore, but not going into the game.

Talk to you all soon

The Pro Bowl teams are determined by a combination of fan voting, coach voting, and player voting.  Each segment counts a third toward the final tally.

Votes can be cast on NFL.com and on Sprint phones by texting "PRO" to 7777.  Fans who vote are eligible for a five-day, four-night trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.  Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is the leading vote-getter through the Sprint balloting.
